Locust insects (the species of grasshopper) seen in different parts of India have entered Nepal. It is estimated that millions have entered the Terai districts of Nepal. These insects have started to eat crops planted by farmers in the Bara, Parsha, Sindhuli, Rupandehi and Sarlahi districts of Nepal.
Locusts insects can destroy most of the crops planted by the farmer. It has the ability to destroy even the branches and bark of the plant after eating the leaves of the plant. Therefore, It is often known as a significant cause of famine. Agricultural scientists from Nepal, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have started discussions to control this crisis.

It is estimated that this insect has recently completely damaged five lakh hectares of crops in India. The group of locusts that came to Nepal is small but the big group is also likely to come. This insect can travel about 130 kilometers per day. It means they can tour whole Nepal in just three to four days. A small group of locusts can damage crops of whole Nepal. Everyone should be alert about this because Nepal is an agricultural country.
